Benefits Blueprint

Energizing sustainable communities

What is Benefits Blueprint?

A call to action for the communities of New Brunswick.

Benefits Blueprint is a broad-based community initiative that brings together stakeholders from across New Brunswick. Benefits Blueprint is a call to action for governments, agencies, and communities to optimize the economic and social benefits resulting from investments in major capital projects. This includes highlighting needs for training and education, enhanced social services and infrastructure, increasing labour force participation and ensuring small and medium-sized businesses can access new opportunities.

When investment of this scale occurs, "good results" can happen with no planning."Better results" can happen when a plan is in place. "Best outcomes" happen when a plan is fully executed. This unique opportunity is a call to action: to build a legacy of sustainable, managed growth by ensuring "best outcomes" are truly captured.

Benefits Blueprint, through its Steering Council, guides communities, and the agencies within them, on how to maximize benefits and minimize challenges associated with rapid economic growth. Its role is that of an advocate and does not directly fund projects or deliver services.

History contains many examples of how economic booms have impacted — both positively and negatively — the cities and towns where they originated. Benefits Blueprint aims to arm community stakeholders with best practices from these examples to enable them to plan. The goal is to optimize the economic growth and social benefits resulting from the major industrial projects planned or proposed for New Brunswick.

The vision is bold and the key is strategic prioritization and management of those priorities.

Benefits Blueprint is supported by the Government of Canada, the Government of New Brunswick, and Irving Oil Limited.
